How to Crimp a cat 5 cable
Types of Media for Networking
-
Transmission media are the physical pathways that connect computers, other devices, and people on a network.
-
Each transmission medium requires specialized network hardware that has to be compatible with that medium.
-
Here are the different types of media in networking.
Types of Media for Networking
UTP
Unshilded Twisted Pair Cable
STP
Unshilded Twisted Pair Cable
CAT 3
Co-axial Cable
Fiber Optics Cable
CAT 5 (Category 5)
CAT 5e
CAT 6
What is Cat 5?
-
CAT 5 stands for Category 5.
-
Referred to as an Ethernet cable.
-
Consists of four twisted pairs of copper wire terminated by an RJ-45 connector.
