  • This is called Consistency.

Consistency in Web Design

  • Repeating design elements and consistent use of type and graphics styles within a document shows a reader how to navigate your layouts.

Types of Consistency

  • Consistency is divided into following types:

CONSISTENCY

Visual Consistency

Functional Consistency

Internal Consistency

External Consistency

Visual Consistency

  • Fonts, sizes, space, buttons, labeling and similar need to be consistent across the product to keep visual consistency.

Functional Consistency

  • Similar controls that are functioning the same way make up the functional consistency.

Internal Consistency

  • Both visual and functional consistency in same product design. If we introduce new page/feature. 

External Consistency :

  • Design consistency across multiple systems/products.

  • Eg. Adobe Systems follows external consistency.
